Pop-up Italian restaurant comes to Cornwall for one night only
A pop-up Italian restaurant is coming to Truro next month … for just one night.
Ugo Massabo, of The Cornish Italian, is hosting a pop-up restaurant in Truro next week, as part of a trial run for a new ‘experience dining’ business he plans to launch in 2022.
On Friday October 8, Loading Bay 7 on Walsingham Place will be transformed into a cozy Italian trattoria for the night, with an open kitchen tempting guests with the sights and smells of authentic Italian cuisine.

Ugo and his co-host Nasser Osseiran, of Loading Bay 7, will prepare fresh pasta dishes and pizzas using the best ingredients from Cornwall and Italy, followed by Ugo’s award-winning tiramisu for dessert.
Three-course menus (£ 25 per person) are available online and, with limited space, pre-booking is essential; tables for two, four, six and eight people can be reserved.
A selection of Italian wines will be available to accompany the food, as well as cocktails and aperitifs will be available from 5.30 p.m. (dinner is served from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.).
Ugo’s freshly cooked Italian cuisine and his creative approach to business have made him a famous face in Cornwall and beyond; he was voted one of Cornwall’s Most Inspirational People to Watch in 2021.
It all started in 2018 when he started selling his artisanal tiramisu – made according to a family recipe – bringing together his Italian heritage and the finest ingredients from his adopted homeland, Cornwall.
This proved to be a big hit, as did Ugo’s entertaining short films, prompting him to create The Cornish Italian – a range of freshly made pasta dishes according to family recipes and using the finest ingredients.
The Cornish Italian is now sending these delicious meal packs and award-winning tiramisu all over the UK, and Ugo’s products are stocked in Cornwall’s most beloved farm shops and delis in London.
Ugo has exciting plans for 2022 that involve diversifying, expanding, and adding a new dining experience to the business, something he’s testing at this event at Loading Bay 7 this fall.
