NOX: Inside Coal Harbor’s New Contemporary Italian Restaurant

Vancouver’s gorgeous new contemporary Italian restaurant, NOX, opened its doors in June, and we’ve finally arrived to experience the new concept for ourselves.

This place is brought to us by the folks behind el Santo of New West, Alejandro Diaz and Sam Fabbro. It aims to be a modern place for Italian dishes with a west coast twist.

Named after the ancient Roman goddess of the night, NOX is an elegant space where guests can enjoy an excellent menu of seasonal dishes and a selection of sips from boutique vineyards practicing sustainable approaches in Italy and British Columbia. .

During our visit, we tried two of five different pasta selections.

The brown butter and parmesan braised leek ravioli and the marinated crab egg noodles with fresh marinated crab in chilli, pecorino and egg yolk were excellent.

Standout starters included bison tartare – served with sunchoke chips – and seared scallops.

If you’re looking for hearty, high-protein dishes, check out selections like Fraser Valley duck breast, grilled albacore tuna and wild boar, which is aged in kelp and served with grilled octopus, a fried egg and salsa negra.

The dessert at this destination does not disappoint. A small but mighty selection of sweets includes Panna Cotta, Tiramisu and Cheesecake.
