Manhattan Restaurant: Italian cuisine done right | DLP town square
Located at Disney’s Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel, The Manhattan Restaurant is Disney’s vision of an Italian/American table-service restaurant concept. The decor inside the dining room is very Marvel-lite, but features a beautiful chandelier inspired by the golden towers of Asgard.
The menu at this restaurant offers a fixed menu (also on the Disneyland Paris meal voucher scheme) as well as à la carte dishes. I opted for the set menu and added the wine pairing for an additional €20.
Starters: Parma ham
As a starter, I took the Parma ham which was accompanied by the Moderna-style galette and fruit mustard. It was a perfectly good starter with a good quality Parma ham. The bread was a little dry for my taste but luckily the restaurant also offered a rosemary focaccia which went much better. The fruit mustard wasn’t to my liking, but I’m not a fan of mustard so didn’t expect it to be something I enjoy.
Would love to order it again as it was a light way to start the meal.
Main course: Bolognese lasagna
For my main course, I opted for lasagna bolognese. It was a very filling portion made with absolutely delicious and fresh tasting lasagne sheets. The beef mince was light but tasty, as was the sauce. Good, it wasn’t a heavy tasting dish, everything worked well together and all the flavors showed.
This dish was delicious and I was left happy and cheerful after finishing it.
This classic Italian dish is a staple of almost every Italian restaurant in the world: Tiramisu. The Manhattan Restaurant Tiramisu is pretty standard and doesn’t try to do anything particularly special, yet here it is, pulling it off like a good Tiramisu. I felt no overall thought towards this dessert, it was flavorful and well balanced. It was good, but I think I’ll move on to something else on the menu for next time.
For an additional €20 on the menu, you can accompany your three dishes with three wines. Each pairing consists of a white wine and a red wine. The three wines I selected were very good and paired well with the dishes. The sweet sparkling dessert wine was worth trying for something a little different from the usual Prosecco. The wines you select should reflect your main courses, your server will help you make the selections if you are unsure.
A delicious meal at a good expected price
Disney’s Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel is currently the highest-rated hotel on the Disneyland Paris property and the three-course meal with wines will set you back €69 (unless you’re on a meal plan, then the base is included and you can top it off with wines). The annual Pass discount is applicable on the food part of the meal (49 €) but not on the wines (20 € additional).
I found the meal to be exceptional value for money, the room itself seems premium as does the service. And the icing on the cake is that the food is good! I will definitely be back for more.
You can find out more about the Manhattan Restaurant on the Disneyland Paris website. Reservations can be made for up to 60 days on the Disneyland Paris app. Some tables are reserved for guests staying at the hotel.
