‘Luxury Italian’ restaurant Matterello to open at Trafford Center

A new luxury Italian restaurant is set to open at the Trafford Palazzo, the site formerly known as the Barton Square arcade at the Trafford Centre.

Matterello will focus on southern Italian cuisine and also offer other “experiences”, like on-site pasta-making classes.

Dishes available will include bruschetta with salsa rossa, marinated squid and fettuccine with pesto and gorgonzola.

The opening is scheduled for the summer.

Steve Pilling, of Northern Restaurants Group, which will launch the restaurant, said: “Trafford Palazzo provides a wonderful setting to launch our new concept.

“Matterello aims to be famous for its contemporary Italian cuisine with traditional values, inspired by the southern Italian palette, which will also include pasta-making lessons alongside the food and drink offering.”

Northern Restaurants also runs venues like The Dockyard in Media City, the Moortop pub and La Cantina in Heaton Moor, and the Roost rotisserie restaurants in Heaton Moor and Wilmslow.

Other new additions to the Barton Square site include a branch of the Archies burger chain, which is also slated to open this summer.
