Fairfield’s new restaurant offers a blend of traditional and contemporary Italian cuisine

A new restaurant in Fairfield offers a seasonal menu blending traditional and contemporary Italian cuisine.

The Pellicano officially opened on Friday, September 23, said Massimo Tabacco, the restaurant’s co-owner with Matthew Balk.

The restaurant, located at 1460 Post Road, serves a selection of small plates and appetizers, such as charred octopus, burrata, meatballs, and mozzarella-stuffed rice balls.

Customers can also choose from a variety of pasta dishes and appetizers, including short rib stew, New York striploin, and pappardelle with wild mushrooms and truffle oil.

Tabacco said the response since opening has been incredible, with the restaurant filling with customers every day.

“The response has been great, which is what matters most to me,” Tabacco said. “People left happy. Some customers showed me posts on Facebook and Instagram of people talking about us. So we’re very happy.”

He added that the restaurant also offers olive oil flights made with Monini extra virgin olive oil, as well as a variety of cocktails and homemade desserts.

Tabacco said plans are underway to build a patio on the restaurant’s roof in the near future.

He said he was working to create a comfortable environment at the restaurant.

“The atmosphere is very warm,” Tabacco said. “We have a fireplace, and the response has been great for the design as well.”
