A restaurant offering classic Italian cuisine is set to open in Harbor Point

A new restaurant offering classic Italian cuisine will soon open in Fairfield County.

Cugine’s Italian is set to open at 121 Towne St. at Harbor Point in Stamford this spring, representatives say.

Restorers John and Morgan Nealon are the owners.

“Our goal with Cugine’s is to provide not just Harbor Point, but Fairfield County as a whole, a whole new Italian dining experience,” John said in a statement. “This sophisticated restaurant will invite our guests to step back in time and dine in the days of Frank Sinatra, with dark interiors and furnishings, beautiful soft mood lighting, a vintage playlist and classic Italian cuisine .”

Moegan said the restaurant will look like “an exclusive speakeasy” and offer dishes similar to those served at a renowned Italian restaurant in New York.

“The menu will be very chef-driven, featuring local ingredients, produce from local partners in our Fairfield County community and truly deliver a dining and bar experience like no other in the area,” she said. added.

The restaurant will be located in the space currently occupied by The Lila Rose, which had its last day of opening on Sunday May 8 and was also owned by the Nealons.

“The Lila Rose has had an incredible run, and we’re grateful for the support we’ve received from the community, especially with being open and operating during a very difficult time,” Morgan said. “It offered the escape we’ve all needed for the past two years, but we’re thrilled to open the doors to this completely redesigned and unique concept.”
